What is BASE bootcamp?

BASE Bootcamp is an intensive 1‑week experience where you gain practical skills in bionanotechnology, bioengineering, DNA technology, molecular oncology and neurobiology, AI‑driven tools, and 3D bioprinting. Projects will be conducted in English, to help you adapt to the international work environment of science.

During BASE Bootcamp, you will work on real research‑style projects designed in collaboration with world‑class scientists, using modern lab equipment and computational tools. You will be guided through the full workflow: from experimental design and hands‑on lab work to data analysis, interpretation, and presentation of your results.

Projects

Choose one of six unique projects in different research areas

  • Sensitive and selective detection of nucleic acids with DNA nanotechnology

    In this project, you will learn to:

    • Design and optimize DNA-based diagnostic systems;

    • Synthesis of DNA-zymes and G-quadruplex sensors;

    • Isothermal amplification methods;

    • Fluorescent and colorimetric detection;

    • Sensor integration into microfluidic chips for point-of-care diagnostics.

    DNA Nanotechnology

  • Plasmid Architecture vs. Promoter Strength

    In this project, you will learn to:

    • Select expression vectors based on regulatory architecture;

    • Design strategies to tune gene expression using regulatory elements;

    • Perform controlled induction of gene expression;

    • Extract total RNA from bacterial cultures and evaluate RNA quality;

    • Quantify mRNA expression levels using RT-qPCR.

    Gene Regulation

  • Recombinant expression of Fluorescent reporter genes

    In this project, you will learn to:

    • Obtaining target gene from a DNA template using PCR;

    • DNA extraction and analysis;

    • Cloning workflow: restriction (how to choose restriction enzymes and work with them), ligation, heat-shock transformation;

    • Performing colony PCR;

    • How T7 promoter works and protein expression.

    Protein Expression

  • Влияние окислительного стресса на антибактериальную активность Lactobacillus acidophilus

    • Определять границы устойчивости L. acidophilus к окислительному стрессу;

    • Cинтез антимикробных соединений у пробиотика с помощью активных форм кислорода;

    • Исследовать динамику секреции метаболитов в среду в зависимости от времени протекания стресс-реакции;

    • Тестировать антибактериальную активность полученных фракций.

    Microbiology[Russian language only]

  • Gene overexpression using CRISPRa

    In this project you will learn to:

    • Design experiments for gene overexpression in human cell cultures using CRISPRa;

    • Transfection of genetic constructs into human cells;

    • Evaluate the results of editing using qRT-PCR.

    Gene Editing

  • Optimization of antibody conjugates

    In this project, you will learn to:

    • Synthesize antibody-conjugates;

    • Perform SDS-PAGE for antibody analysis;

    • Seed and maintain eukaryotic cell cultures;

    • Work with atom emission spectroscopy.

    Antibody Conjugation
